You may have heard that the CDC guidelines changed the length of quarantine to 5 days for asymptomatic positive cases. This does NOT apply to staff or students at Illinois schools. Per ISBE we will continue to follow current IDPH COVID-19 School Guidance for positive cases and close contacts. However, instead of referring our parents to the VCHD for information and to obtain a letter so students may return to school after quarantine, we will now refer them to the IDPH Surge Center. This is the information we will share with parents:
Call 312-777-1999 or click: https://dph.illinois.gov/covid19/community-guidance/confirmed-or-possible-covid-19.html
Confirmed or Possible COVID-19 - Illinois If you have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or develop symptoms of COVID-19 after you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, please follow the steps below to help prevent the disease from spreading to people in your home and community. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, cough and shortness of breath. dph.illinois.gov |
Parents- if you receive a text back after you have reported a positive case you must OPT IN in order to receive a letter allowing your student to return to school. Students who were positive for COVID -19 and students who live in the same household or are close contacts as the positive case will also require a letter to return unless they are fully vaccinated and symptom free. Note that this link indicates a 5 day quarantine is possible for the general public. Please know that this is not applicable to students in Illinois schools. We are still working with a 10 day quarantine for positive cases.
Students may not attend school if they are experiencing any of the potential COVID-19 symptoms:
Fever of 100.4 or higher, NEW ONSET of a moderate or severe headache, Shortness of breath, NEW cough
Sore throat, Vomiting, Diarrhea, NEW loss of sense of taste or smell, Fatigue from unknown cause, Muscle or body aches from unknown cause
