Most Valuable Athlete

In 1963, Bismarck-Henning High School Athletic Director Juby Parke designed an award to give to the school’s most valuable athlete. The BHRA Most Valuable Athlete Award encourages student-athletes to see the value of being a multiple-sport athlete while also being rewarded for team and individual accomplishments.

Juby Parke created a rubric where student-athletes earned a specific number of points for playing a team sport, individual sport, lettering, being named all-conference and/or all-county, a conference team champion, placing at a regional or sectional, and being named MVP.

Points are accumulated by student-athletes and added after each sports season. The awards for the BHRA Boy Most Valuable Athlete and BHRA Girl Most Valuable Athlete are given at the Honors Night Banquet at the end of each school year.
