Quarantine Information: Questions? Contact Nurse Kelly Based on CDC recommendations, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) has given school districts permission to update quarantine procedures for those who are considered a close contact of someone with COVID19. In consultation with the Vermilion County Health Department the following changes will now be implemented:
New Guidelines: If exposed, students may return after 10 days, if symptom free the entire 10 days. If there are symptoms at any point during the ten days, then the student must stay home the entire 14 days. Symptoms include: fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea.
With both options the following additional criteria through day 14 must be met: • correct and consistent mask use (including within homes), • social distancing, hand and cough hygiene, hand and cough hygiene, environmental cleaning and disinfection, avoiding crowds, ensuring adequate indoor ventilation, monitoring for symptoms of COVID-19 illness, and minimizing contact with persons at increased risk for severe illness, including vulnerable and congregate populations.
Monitoring can be conducted using any method acceptable by the local public health authorities and can include self-monitoring using an approved checklist of signs and symptoms. Please use the potential symptoms listed on the Teacherease daily check-in as a guide.
