Bismarck-Henning Rossville-Alvin Cooperative High School Daily Announcements Monday, August 24th, 2020

Announcements:

First Day Tomorrow!

  • Heads up!  BHRA’s start time has changed to 8:15 this year.  This means the first bell will ring at 8:10 and you need to be in your 1st hour classroom by the tardy bell at 8:15.

  • Please check TeacherEase and head straight to your first hour class.  (Yes, you can stop at your locker on the way).  Your first hour teacher will have a copy of your schedule that includes your locker number and combination.

  • Parents!  Don’t forget to self-certify your students EACH AND EVERY MORNING.  You can do this through your TeacherEase account.  To use TeacherEase on your phone, you must open it through the Internet Browser on your phone.  You may also use a computer.  If you do not have access to your TeacherEase account, please call the office by 2:30 today so we can help you with it.

  • Be sure your Chromebook is charged each day and you bring it to school each day!

Behind-the-Wheel

  • With the exception of the after-school drivers, Behind-the-Wheel will begin on Wednesday 8/25/20.  All other class periods, please report to your regular class periods on Tuesday.

  • If you are eligible for Senior Release, in Co-Op, or you are in 1st or 8th Hour Study Hall, you may be eligible to come in late or leave early (during your study hall class), you’ll need to have both student and parent sign this form and bring it with you Tuesday.  Senior Release/1st & 8th Study Hall

  • If you have any questions on the forms above, please contact Mr. Benjamin.

School Supplies

  • School Supplies -- All high school teachers and classes are different and will need different things.  You can find a school supply list for those teachers that turned on in HERE.  For all classes not listed, bring pen/paper/folder on the first day.  Your teacher will give you guidance and supplies needed then.

Fundraisers Happening Now!

  • Blue Devil Football players are selling their annual discount cards for $20.  This year there are many local businesses including Andi Mae’s, GeeManetti’s, The Pour House, and Mad Goat… just to name a few.  Find a football player to order yours today, or check in with the high school office.

  • Your Volleyball team has an awesome FanCloth order going on now!  Check out fancloth.shop/mtblt.  The sale ends at the end of the day TUESDAY!

College Express Updates

  • College express begins Monday, August 24th.  All College Express students need to begin attending on Monday.

  • Below is a campus map with classroom locations noted as well as where student parking is (circled in red).  Specific room numbers will be posted at the entries to buildings for students to find their instructor and their corresponding room.  College Express staff will also be around to help students find their classrooms.  Orientation will be in the individual classrooms. Textbooks will be in the individual classrooms also. Upon student arrival.

    • See the College Express Map HERE to find where your class is meeting.

  • Dacc has put together a video for students returning back to campus.  It does a very good job explaining the new normal at DACC.  It tells where students should enter their buildings, about mask protocol in the buildings and in classrooms, along with other pertinent information. You can view that video here. https://youtu.be/RG7x_O1E6Rc

  • At this time, when students arrive on campus, they should go straight to their classrooms.  If at all possible, students should not arrive on campus more than 10 minutes prior to their classes starting.  Until things loosen up, we will not allow “Subway time”. Upon dismissal, students should get on their busses promptly, or return to their vehicle and leave campus.

  • College Express students will need to arrive on campus, go directly to their classroom, and then from their classroom to their car.  Students will not be allowed to visit Subway or wander the campus.

  • Students will have their temperatures taken prior to entering the building in which they have class.

Registration Updates

  • If you do not have all of your paperwork turned in, you will receive an email from Mrs. Packard.  Please get that sent back to her as soon as possible.  Let us know if you have questions.

  • Parking spots should be coming to student emails this afternoon!

Freshmen & Seniors - Information from Nurse Kelly (kstrader@bismarck.k12.il.us)

  • FRESHMEN - ALL incoming freshmen need a school physical.  Incoming freshmen will not require a sports physical if they are playing sports because the school physical is sufficient.  All incoming freshmen must have their vaccinations up-to-date.  If you do not know if your vaccinations are up-to-date, please contact your primary care provider.

  • SENIORS - All seniors require their 2nd meningococcal vaccine.  If a meningococcal vaccine was received after the age of 16, a 2nd meningococcal vaccine is not necessary.  If a meningococcal vaccine was received in sixth grade, which is common practice for sixth graders, the second meningococcal vaccine is due the first day of senior year.  The required meningococcal vaccine covers meningitis A, C, W and Y.  The vaccine for meningitis B, often called Bexsero, is not required.

SAT Update

  • ISBE has notified us that the SAT with essay will be administered to all students in the class of 2021 on October 14th at BHRA.  We are hoping to be able to provide SAT review sessions as well, more information will be given once school starts.

Sports Physicals

  • Sports physicals are still required this year.  Please make your appointments asap.  IHSA has not extended the deadlines on physicals.  There will not be physicals done at BHRA this year. If your student is an incoming freshman, their school physical will work for athletics this school year.
