Meet Our BHRA Alumni - Molly (Smith) Goodwin!

Today's interview comes from junior Haley Hill.

Molly (Smith) Goodwin graduated from RAHS in 1998. She was involved in volleyball, basketball, cheerleading, and National Honor Society. She currently works as an administrative assistant for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and coordinated the “Serve Together” program for Vermilion County.

Who was your favorite teacher at Rossville-Alvin High School? Why?

That’s a tough one, but I would have to say that my favorite teachers were Mrs. Fry and Ms. Watson. Mrs. Fry was my instructor for my Certified Nursing Assistant class that I took my senior year at Hoopeston High School. She instilled in me a love for health and people. Ms. Watson was my English teacher. She was so compassionate and kind and instilled in me a love of reading.

What was your favorite class?

My favorite class was PE with Mrs. Cox. She was always full of energy and excitement. She made sweating fun. I was also blessed to have her as my volleyball coach.

What influenced you to coordinate the “Serve Together” program?

The need for unity in our community influenced me to coordinate Serve Together. I have lived in Vermilion County my whole life, and I love it. I want to encourage people to love where they live and serve where they live.

Did your career path change from what you thought it would be in high school?

In high school I planned to enter the medical field; however, I eventually chose to get degrees in Early Childhood Education and Christian Ministry. I have had several careers since I graduated 22 years ago…at home day care provider, children’s minister, preschool teacher, lunch lady to name a few. I was able to be a stay at home mom while I worked each of these jobs; and that’s the most important job I have had.

What is your favorite part about your career?

I currently work as an administrative assistant for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. I enjoy working with people, planning events and helping to engage, equip and empower coaches and athletes to have a relationship with Jesus.
